Valley Cities Behavioral Health Care is hosting a Coffee Chat in Federal Way on Sept. 17 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at 33405 8th Ave. S., in observance of Suicide Awareness Month. The event aims to educate attendees on suicide prevention, bringing together community members and experts to discuss warning signs, risk factors, and support resources. Presenters include Valley Cities clinicians, crisis response professionals, and local law enforcement. The event will consist of sign-in, introductions, and a discussion with a Q&A session for participants to engage with the experts. Valley Cities emphasizes compassion and evidence-based strategies in suicide prevention and has partnered with King County since 2022 to implement a Zero Suicide Framework in its programs. This Coffee Chat aims to foster open dialogue about mental health, reduce stigma, and create a supportive community environment. All residents, families, and community partners are encouraged to attend. Valley Cities is also open to donations to sustain its services and offers support to those dealing with mental health and addiction challenges, including a 24-hour crisis line.
