Jack Millman, a dedicated driver for King County Metro, has been named the Operator of the Year for his outstanding service over the past two decades. Recognized during a ceremony on Oct. 28, Millman is celebrated for his calm demeanor and kindness, which have significantly improved the commuting experience for many passengers. General Manager Michelle Allison praised his commitment, highlighting a recent incident where Millman’s quick actions saved a passenger’s life after a severe injury.
Millman has received more than 200 commendations from riders, showcasing his exceptional character and ability to create a welcoming environment. Passengers frequently commend his friendliness, professionalism, and timely service. Phil DeVault, Metro’s division director of bus operations, noted the unprecedented number of commendations Millman has garnered, emphasizing his embodiment of King County values.
In addition to his driving skills, Millman is known for his personal connections with riders, often engaging with them during their journeys. For his recognition, he received a commemorative plaque and a custom ring, symbols of his dedication and heart in public service.
