Formal support is crucial for the recovery of victim-survivors of domestic, family, and sexual violence (DFSV). Trauma-and-violence-informed care (TVIC) aims to enhance outcomes and reduce harm for these survivors. However, current services often fail to meet their needs and can even cause further harm. A systematic qualitative meta-synthesis was conducted, incorporating the views of 694 service providers from 29 articles to determine effective TVIC practices for DFSV victim-survivors. Eight key themes emerged from the analysis. Six individual-level themes highlight the importance of safety, survivor-centered care, respectful emotional support, non-judgmental relationships, enabling survivors to thrive, and ensuring cultural safety and inclusivity. The two system-level themes emphasize the need for effective, accessible, and holistic services. The findings advocate for a comprehensive, trauma-informed, survivor-centered approach that practitioners can implement to enhance service outcomes and support recovery and healing for victim-survivors.
