A new study has validated the Career Adapt-Abilities Scale-China Short Form (CAAS-CSF) for measuring career adaptability among Chinese college students. The research involved 259 students over three semesters, using stratified cluster sampling. It tested gender and longitudinal factorial invariance of the CAAS-CSF through multiple-group confirmatory factor analysis. The study also explored the concurrent validity of the CAAS-CSF in relation to boredom proneness using a cross-lagged panel model. Results indicated that the CAAS-CSF maintained factorial invariance across genders and over time. A significant negative correlation was found between career adaptability and boredom proneness, both within and across different time points. The scale demonstrated strong internal consistency and moderate to large stability over the year. These findings suggest that the CAAS-CSF is a reliable tool for assessing career adaptability, useful in educational settings, career counseling, and research.
