School-based health interventions significantly improve pediatric health outcomes, according to a recent study analyzing research trends from 2014 to 2024. A total of 953 publications were reviewed, revealing a peak in annual publications around 2018-2019, followed by a decline. The most studied age group was children aged 9 to 13 years, making up 50.9% of the research. Common topics included physical activity and nutrition (36%), health promotion (25%), mental health (19%), obesity (15%), and substance use (12%). Despite the decrease in the number of publications, most studies indicate positive health outcomes for children. The findings highlight the necessity for ongoing research in underrepresented areas such as school-based health centers, telemedicine, and interventions for minority youth, students with disabilities, and issues related to reproductive health, violence prevention, and socioeconomic disparities.
