Cliff Tracy, an Army Veteran and VA employee, describes the VA as a crucial lifeline during challenging times in his life. Serving from 1999 to 2003, Tracy faced a severe foot injury and a life-threatening staph infection from a training accident, leading to multiple surgeries and months of recovery. His deployment to Iraq in 2003 taught him the value of teamwork. After transitioning to civilian life in 2004, he struggled with post-traumatic stress and felt isolated. Seeking help from the VA, he received a carbon fiber brace that significantly improved his mobility and outlook. This experience motivated him to join the VA Pathways Fellowship program, leading to a career as a patient advocate. Tracy has served in various roles, including congressional liaison and patient experience officer. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he fell seriously ill, but VA staff provided vital care that saved his life. Now residing in Oklahoma City with his family, Tracy emphasizes that the VA is dedicated to supporting Veterans. He encourages fellow Veterans to seek help, stating that VA employees are committed to their mission of caring for those who served.
