Inati gathered over 80 leaders from community organizations across Thurston, Pierce, and King Counties for the seventh regional Shaping the Future convening in Grand Mound this fall. The event focused on collaboration for equity and racial justice in Washington. Participants discussed their vision for communities free from financial worries, with abundant affordable housing and access to culturally relevant nourishment and health care. Khurshida Begum, Executive Director of the ASHHO Cultural & Job Training Center, emphasized the importance of taking action to create change rather than waiting for it. She stated, “We are here to shape the future—not dream it, build it. Not wait for justice—make it.” Other speakers included Nichole June Maher, Steven Cole Schwartz, AyeNay Abye, Pablo Castillo, Justin DeFour, and Faaluaina Pritchard, among many others. The gathering was part of a series of events aimed at fostering connections among leaders from various regions in Washington, promoting collective investment in radical change. The Inatai Foundation expressed gratitude to all participants and the video team, Humxn Media, for their contributions to the event.
