Marine Veteran Robert Minicucci celebrated his 100th birthday on Nov. 18, 2025, after attending a Tai Chi class at the Coatesville VA Medical Center. The class turned festive as family and health care staff gathered to honor Minicucci, presenting him with a coin and certificate from VA Secretary Doug Collins. Friends and classmates shared stories and enjoyed cake in his honor.
Minicucci, who served from 1944 to 1947, reflects on his longevity with humor, attributing it to good food, red wine, and luck. He maintains a modest exercise routine that includes a daily 15-minute workout and strengthening exercises throughout the day to enhance his balance, as he occasionally struggles with mobility. His daughter Joya noted that his balance has significantly improved since starting Tai Chi, which benefits Veterans by addressing mobility issues and promoting cardiovascular fitness.
For his milestone birthday, Minicucci received over 140 birthday cards, far exceeding the family’s goal of 100. He expressed gratitude for the care he receives at Coatesville VA, stating that he and his family always leave with smiles. The Tai Chi program at Coatesville welcomes Veterans of all ages and fitness levels.
