The increase reflects a 10% rise from the previous year, with Veterans participating in over 14.6 million telehealth appointments. Many Veterans, like 81-year-old Jim Smith and Vincent DeMarro, who has parkinsonism, have found telehealth essential for managing their health without the challenges of travel. Smith highlighted the comfort of receiving care from home, while DeMarro credited telehealth with saving his life and likened his care team to a “dream team.”

Overall, 91.7% of Veterans reported satisfaction with telehealth services, and 89.1% expressed trust in telehealth as part of their health care. The most popular VA tool is VA Video Connect, allowing for video appointments; 92.9% of users were satisfied with these visits. The VA offers over 60 mobile apps to help Veterans manage their health outside traditional settings, and resources like My HealtheVet enable them to oversee prescriptions and appointments. VA Telehealth Services aims to meet the diverse needs of Veterans by providing multiple engagement options, including telehealth, in-person care, and secure messaging.
