Over 350 Golden Corral restaurants participated in the 2025 Military Appreciation Night, where members of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organization honored veterans while raising funds for their local departments and chapters. Paul Hermann, a Louisiana DAV member and Air Force veteran, has been involved since 2017. After being medically retired, Hermann found support through DAV, which helped him file his claim and inspired him to assist others in similar situations. During the event, DAV members set up tables at Golden Corral locations, providing veterans with information about benefits, claims, and resources available to them. This year, Golden Corral served nearly 180,000 free meals to veterans and is expected to raise over $1 million for DAV. The funds support initiatives like the DAV Transportation Network, which offers free rides to veterans for medical appointments, particularly beneficial for those in rural areas without transportation. Hermann emphasized the importance of fellowship among veterans, stating that sharing stories and supporting one another is crucial. The event has fostered connections among veterans from various branches and eras, reinforcing the spirit of giving back to the community.
