One in three adults in the U.S. has prediabetes, increasing their risk of developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. Despite this, nearly 85% of those affected are unaware of their condition. Prediabetes indicates that blood glucose levels are higher than normal but not yet high enough for a diabetes diagnosis. It serves as a warning that diabetes may be on the horizon if no lifestyle changes are made. Valley Medical Center offers a Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) aimed at helping individuals manage their prediabetes. The next cohort of the program begins on Monday, Feb. 23. Interested participants can learn more and fill out an interest form through Valley’s website.
