Seattle Children’s Research Institute will host a scientific symposium on February 27, 2026, in observance of Rare Disease Day. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Building Cure in the McKinstry Auditorium. Faculty from Seattle Children’s and the University of Washington will present current research in diagnostics, pathophysiology, and therapeutic development for rare diseases. The symposium aims to enhance collaboration among Seattle’s research and clinical communities focused on rare conditions. Lunch and coffee will be provided to attendees. Participants can RSVP to join the event. Rare diseases affect about 30 million people in the U.S., with many cases going undiagnosed for years. Fewer than 500 of these diseases have FDA-approved treatments, making research crucial for improving care and outcomes.
