The Washington State Department of Health has revoked or suspended the licenses and certifications of several health care providers due to serious misconduct. In Cowlitz County, Mistee Marie Crucius, a certified nursing assistant, had her credential suspended for at least three years after being found to have financially exploited a vulnerable adult. In King County, George Njuguna Kamau faced a seven-year suspension of his registered nursing assistant credential for financially exploiting and sexually abusing a vulnerable adult. In Pierce County, Hony I. Wilkinson’s certified nursing assistant credential was indefinitely suspended for neglecting a vulnerable adult. All three individuals were placed on the Department of Social and Health Services’ long-term care abuse and neglect registry, disqualifying them from working with vulnerable adults. The Department of Health emphasizes the importance of reporting any unprofessional behavior by health care providers and provides resources for consumers to check a provider’s license status and disciplinary history.
