Key highlights include the groundbreaking of the Constellation Center and Constellation Apartments, which will provide 84 affordable homes, including 15 for youth exiting homelessness, alongside essential services. The historic Devonshire Apartments underwent a thorough rehabilitation, ensuring continued affordability and safety for its 62 homes. In November, the White Center HUB and Canopy Apartments opened, featuring a community resource center and 76 affordable homes, strengthening local partnerships. December saw the launch of Copperleaf Northgate, Community Roots’ largest project with 235 affordable apartments near Northgate Station, offering residents free transit passes for three years. Additionally, the organization allocated $150,000 in rental assistance to help residents facing unexpected financial challenges, promoting housing stability. These initiatives reflect Community Roots’ commitment to tackling the housing crisis through innovative solutions and community engagement.
