Shannon Braddock was sworn in as acting King County executive following a unanimous vote by the County Council. She is the first woman to hold this position and has a background as deputy county executive, bringing 15 years of local government experience. Braddock expressed her commitment to strong leadership and essential services for the community, including public transit, health, and safety. She plans to collaborate with various stakeholders, including county leaders and community partners.

Braddock’s previous roles include deputy executive, chief of staff, and council relations director under former executive Dow Constantine, as well as chief of staff for former councilmember Joe McDermott. In addition to her government work, she has been involved in local nonprofits and served as a PTA leader. A graduate of Western Washington University and the University of Washington, she holds a master’s degree in public administration and has lived in King County for more than 26 years.

Braddock appointed Karan Gill as her chief of staff, filling the deputy executive position. Community leaders have expressed their support, highlighting her expertise and commitment to public service. King County voters will elect a new executive in November.
