Members of Bellevue’s City Council recently presented the annual State of the City at the Meydenbauer Center, emphasizing the theme “Better Together.” Mayor Lynne Robinson highlighted the importance of partnerships in achieving the city’s innovations and successes. Key advancements over the past year include a 25% reduction in crime, the introduction of 29 new or expanded businesses, and the creation of 6,000 new jobs. The city has initiated a new Office of Housing to enhance support for community housing needs, made strides in acquiring properties for parks, and increased funding for arts, culture, and large events. During a 40-minute Q&A session with BDA President Patrick Bannon, Robinson and Deputy Mayor Mo Malakoutian discussed strategies for future resiliency and addressed various community concerns. Bellevue, known for its extensive parks and trails, is the fifth-largest city in Washington, covering 33.5 square miles and featuring a diverse population of more than 150,000. The city is recognized as a high-tech and retail center within the Innovation Triangle.
