On October 8, a Medicare/Medicaid expert will be available at the center to answer questions. Participants are encouraged to submit specific queries in advance. A new Lake City Seniors WhatsApp group is being launched for important updates, including cancellations or inclement weather. Classes on how to use WhatsApp will be offered by John later this month.
October programming includes weekly Roundtable Conversations every Monday at 1 p.m., where social worker Syl will lead discussions on various topics aimed at fostering reflection and friendship. Topics include survival items for a desert island, neighborhood changes over time, generational understanding, and historical dinner guests.
John will also conduct five tech classes throughout October, covering navigation of the center’s website, basics of Facebook and Instagram, and WhatsApp registration. An open tech Q&A session is set for October 31.
Other events include a discussion on Medicare options by Humana on October 6, a composting class by Tilth Alliance on October 13, a Pro Bono Council legal clinic on October 20, and a visit from the Mobile Community Service Office on October 27 for assistance with various social services.
