Bellevue City Manager Diane Carlson announced the hiring of Bindi Lassige as the new director of human resources and diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, effective Nov. 24. Lassige brings over 20 years of HR leadership experience, including more than a decade at the Gates Foundation, where she managed global HR operations, employee relations, and compliance. She will succeed Joy St. Germain, who is retiring after 36 years in public service, including eight years with Bellevue.
Lassige has a strong background in various sectors, such as global philanthropy and technology, and is recognized for her skills in collaboration and organizational change. Carlson expressed enthusiasm for Lassige’s commitment to creating people-centered systems that foster equity and strengthen workplace culture.
Lassige’s previous roles include HR leadership positions at Assurance IQ, Promethean, Microsoft, and General Electric. She holds an MBA in human resources and change management, as well as a bachelor’s degree in economics. Under her leadership, the HR department will oversee the Diversity Advantage Team and ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws while providing comprehensive HR services.
