A study in Saudi Arabia investigated feeding and nutritional issues related to enteral nutrition (EN) in children with disabilities. Conducted between December 2023 and March 2024, the pilot study surveyed 41 caregivers using an online questionnaire to gather demographic information and assess challenges associated with EN. The median age of the children was 3.2 years. Key problems reported included constipation, weight loss, and gastroesophageal reflux. Statistical analysis indicated a significant relationship between the need for nutritional support and the feeding problems encountered. The primary diagnosis and health status of the children were also significant predictors of these issues. Caregivers faced challenges that were related to the type of EN provided. The findings highlight common difficulties experienced by disabled children receiving long-term EN, emphasizing the need for early identification of these problems to facilitate appropriate interventions, which could enhance growth and improve quality of life for affected children.
