Army Veteran William Huff, 93, has made a remarkable recovery thanks to the Salem VA Health Care System. In early 2025, after breaking his back in a fall, his family feared he would not survive. However, Huff underwent kyphoplasty surgery in February, which provided immediate relief and marked the beginning of his turnaround. His son, Howard, praised the personalized care his father received, highlighting the strong bond formed between Huff and his care team, particularly Physical Therapy Assistant Brittany Mills.

After his military service from 1956 to 1962, Huff built over 176 homes, cherishing the life he created with his late wife, Lola. Now back in his beloved home, he enjoys gardening, cooking, and completing puzzles. The VA has equipped him with a scooter, specialized bed, wheelchairs, and a walker, enabling him to maintain independence and engage in activities he loves.

Huff encourages other Veterans to seek VA care, emphasizing that it is not a sign of weakness but a path to better health. His heartfelt gratitude reflects the significant role the VA has played in restoring his quality of life.
