This holiday season, Angel Flight West (AFW) highlights the urgent need for support to help patients access essential medical care. Many individuals and families face transportation challenges, particularly for long distances. A notable example is eight-year-old Eli, who suffers from intractable epilepsy and lives in Silt, Colorado, nearly 650 miles from Phoenix Children’s Hospital. His family previously endured exhausting 20-hour round trips for treatment, but AFW has alleviated this burden, allowing them to reach appointments more easily. Eli’s mother, Savannah, praises the volunteer pilots for their kindness and support, which makes travel less stressful for her son. AFW serves thousands of patients, ensuring they can access necessary care at no cost. To further encourage donations, the Board of Directors has contributed an additional $20,000 to a matching gift campaign. Donations made by December 23 will be doubled, enhancing the impact on those in need. Mary Hunter, Executive Director of AFW, expresses gratitude for the support and wishes everyone a happy holiday season.
