Michael Adusah joined Seattle’s Human Services Department in March 2023 as a Senior Planner for the Aging and Disability Services division. He serves as the Staff Liaison to the Seattle-King County Advisory Council on Aging and Disability Services, which advocates for older adults and people with disabilities. His role involves coordinating meetings and guiding policy discussions to ensure the voices of these communities are heard in decision-making processes.
Adusah enjoys working with council members who bring valuable insights and a commitment to equity. He finds it rewarding to see their perspectives influence advocacy efforts that extend beyond the region. Over the past year, his job has changed significantly due to increased engagement with policymakers, necessitating a clear explanation of the importance of human services amid budget constraints.
Adusah is motivated by the impact of his work on vulnerable populations and the collaborative spirit of his colleagues and community partners. He emphasizes the need for adaptability in a shifting policy landscape and remains focused on making systems more accessible and humane for those he serves.
