A workshop on cognitive testing and assessment tools for geriatric evaluations will be held on February 4, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. PDT. The session, led by Karin Taifour, MA LMHC GMHS, will cover the importance of mental status exams and cognitive testing in comprehensive assessments for older adults. Despite the widespread use of various assessment tools, there is a lack of standard training in their administration among clinicians.
Participants will learn about different cognitive testing tools, how to select appropriate instruments for various situations, and the ethical and cultural considerations in testing. The workshop will also address the limitations of these tools and the interpretation of results in documentation.
Karin Taifour, a seasoned clinician with over 20 years of experience, specializes in assessing decision-making capacity in older adults and has conducted numerous assessments throughout her career. The program will be conducted via Zoom, with a fee of $199 plus tax. Discounts and scholarships are available, and all service providers are encouraged to attend.
