Seattle has been recognized as a 2025 Visionary Digital Inclusion Trailblazer by the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA) for its ongoing efforts to close the digital divide. This marks the eighth consecutive year Seattle has received the highest score in digital equity programming. The city prioritizes access to affordable high-speed internet, devices, and digital skills training, which are vital for community participation in a digital society. Seattle City Council President Joy Hollingsworth emphasized the need for collective action involving nonprofits, libraries, and community organizations to achieve digital equity. Seattle is among 58 other communities leading in digital inclusion, showcasing innovative practices integrated into government operations. The city’s Chief Technology Officer, Rob Lloyd, noted that Seattle’s legacy of innovation focuses on expanding opportunities and access for residents. Seattle’s status as a Visionary Trailblazer is supported by initiatives like the Technology Matching Fund and Digital Navigator grants. The NDIA’s program assesses and verifies best practices in digital inclusion, providing a model for other local governments. Seattle’s Information Technology Department manages the city’s Digital Equity Program, aiming to deliver equitable services to all residents.
