King County Regional Homelessness Authority will activate Tier 2 Severe Weather Protocols from Saturday, January 17, to Monday, January 19, with a potential extension. Westside Neighbors Shelter will increase its cot capacity to 45 people and add an overnight staff member for supervision. After the severe weather advisory ends, the shelter will revert to its standard winter operations, accommodating 35 cots and two overnight staff members. During this period, the Severe Weather Shelter Navigation Hotline, available daily from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. at (206) 245-1026, can be used for information on shelter locations and services. Families with children can receive assistance in finding a shelter and transportation to it, if available. Donations of food and warm clothing are needed in the area. Contributions can be dropped off at the American Legion Hall, located at 3620 SW Alaska St, or ordered through an Amazon wish list.
