Veteran Patrick Cox, who served in the Army and faced homelessness due to addiction and personal struggles, found stability through VA services. After reaching out for help, he connected with Volunteers of America (VOA), which provided resources for sobriety and housing. This led him to the HUD-VASH program, where he received assistance in securing stable housing with the help of the VA Cincinnati Healthcare System.

Once settled, Cox re-engaged with his passion for gardening through the VA’s Whole Health program. He participated in the Veteran Garden Project, where he cultivated a successful garden, including award-winning squash and towering sunflowers. Sharing his harvest with neighbors gave him a renewed sense of purpose and joy.

Cox emphasizes the importance of seeking help and building connections among Veterans. He encourages those struggling with similar issues to take the first step toward recovery, stating that without trying, one cannot discover the potential for a better life. His story highlights the impact of community support and VA programs in helping Veterans overcome challenges and regain their footing.
