We are saddened to announce the unexpected passing of Girish Joshi, a dedicated board member of NAMI Eastside. Girish was a strong advocate for youth mental health and worked tirelessly to reduce stigma surrounding mental health issues. As a Mental Health First Aid facilitator, he educated and empowered many in the community. He significantly strengthened the partnership with the Microsoft community by participating in workshops, panels, and mental health presentations. Since joining the board in 2021, Girish made a lasting impact on the organization’s mission and the individuals it serves. He is survived by his wife, Deepti, and daughter, Aarna, who have also been active in mental health advocacy, with Aarna contributing to the Youth Ambassadors program. The NAMI Eastside community expresses its heartfelt condolences and support to Girish’s family during this challenging time. As a tribute to Girish and his passion for mental health advocacy, community members are encouraged to take moments for reflection and care, such as spending time outdoors. His presence will be deeply missed.
