To support Bellevue’s middle- and high-school youth, the City of Bellevue is offering $86,000 annually for after-school drop-in services in 2027 and 2028. Application materials are available through Human Services Funding. Applications open on Feb. 2 and are due by 4 p.m. on Feb. 27. Proposals must detail plans for providing consistent, free drop-in services for youth every day, including after school and during summer. The Human Services Commission will evaluate the proposals and make funding recommendations to the Parks & Community Services Department.
School-age children and youth spend 80% of their waking hours outside of school, with one in five U.S. young people alone after school. High-quality after-school programs foster positive youth development and create safe spaces for exploration. These programs support social, emotional, cognitive, and academic growth, reduce exposure to risks, promote physical health, and ensure a supportive environment for children and youth.
