At ten years old, Jenna faced significant challenges after her family lost their housing, leading to instability and bullying at school. Concerned for her mother’s struggles, Jenna carried trauma and fear but bravely asked for help by requesting therapy. This decision connected her to Youth Eastside Services (YES), where she received counseling tailored for children dealing with trauma and emotional distress. Through therapy, Jenna learned that her experiences were not her fault and developed coping skills to manage her emotions.
Over time, she regained confidence and began to understand herself better. Jenna also attended a summer camp organized by YES, where she enjoyed making friends and felt a sense of belonging. Now twelve, Jenna is hopeful and enthusiastic about her future, aspiring to study engineering and enjoying her favorite activities, like watching Marvel movies.
Therapy helped Jenna improve her self-image and empathy towards others. With the support of YES, she learned that her past does not define her and that she deserves care and connection. This transformation was made possible by generous donors who fund vital services for youth in need.
