Homeownership is a key method for families to establish stability and build generational wealth, yet many lower-income and legacy homeowners face significant barriers. The Partnership for ADU Development (PAD), a pilot program in Seattle, aims to tackle these issues by allowing homeowners to collaborate with mission-driven developers to create accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and middle housing on their properties. A webinar titled “Seattle’s Innovation for Unlocking Homeownership” will be held on February 18, featuring Rico Quirindongo, the Director of Seattle’s Office of Planning and Community Development. The session will cover how homeownership-led development can prevent displacement, how ADUs and middle housing contribute to wealth-building, and how co-development and ground lease models operate in practice. Participants will also discuss actions cities can take to eliminate barriers to equitable development. The webinar is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT and will last for one hour.
