Donna Majeskie, a volunteer at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center, has dedicated nearly 500 hours to helping Veterans through her role as a First Impressions Curbside Assistance volunteer. Her journey began while caring for her Veteran father, a career Air Force officer, alongside her mother. The challenges they faced with VA appointments inspired her to serve others. Majeskie assists Veterans by helping them get in and out of vehicles, providing wheelchairs, and guiding them to their appointments. She chose this specific volunteer work due to her personal experiences, recognizing the difficulties many women encounter when transporting their spouses to medical visits. After retiring from a 30-year career at Kraft Heinz, she committed herself to supporting Veterans and their families, fueled by the compassionate care her father received at the VA during his final years. Majeskie’s story highlights the impact of empathy and the importance of giving back to the community.
