A new multifamily housing facility, Steven’s Place, has opened in Seattle’s Interbay neighborhood, offering 109 studio units and five respite units for individuals recovering from medical care. Funded by the state Housing Trust Fund and supported by the City of Seattle and King County, Steven’s Place is the second supportive housing project developed by the Downtown Emergency Service Center (DESC) in the area. It serves those who have experienced chronic homelessness, defined as being unhoused for at least 12 months or having had multiple episodes in three years, according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Residents at Steven’s Place, one of the most vulnerable populations in King County, are provided with wraparound services, including behavioral health support, substance use treatment, and employment assistance. Each tenant is assigned a support staff member to assist with medication monitoring and referrals to clinical programs. Residents are referred through the King County Coordinated Entry system, which prioritizes placements based on need. The mission of both Steven’s Place and Interbay Place is to provide low-barrier housing opportunities for those in greatest need.
