Darryl Lynch, a former Army logistics specialist, spent nearly 20 years leading the Environmental Management Service at the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center. In 2022, during a routine checkup, doctors detected advanced prostate cancer in Lynch. Despite initial fears and doubts about receiving care at the VA, he chose to undergo treatment at OKCVAMC. His treatment plan included eight weeks of radiation therapy, led by Dr. Christopher Bozarth, an Army Veteran. The therapy utilized advanced technology to precisely target the cancer while protecting surrounding healthy tissue. Lynch praised the VA’s care, stating it matched or exceeded community standards. After completing his treatment, he is now cancer-free and has decided to pursue a degree in sociology and psychology. Lynch plans to volunteer at OKCVAMC, hoping to support other Veterans facing similar health challenges. His experience has transformed his view of VA services, and he encourages fellow Veterans to seek care, declaring, “I’m a living witness.”
