Sound Generations is accepting nominations for the annual Inspire Positive Aging Awards, which honor the achievements of older adults in Western Washington. Over the past 20 years, the awards have recognized more than 550 individuals. Last year saw a record 63 nominations, up from the usual 25-30, and all nominees were celebrated at a community luncheon attended by guests and local organizations. This year’s event is anticipated to be even larger, encouraging the community to recognize inspiring elders.
Nominees must be 60 years or older and reside in Western Washington. There are six categories for nominations: Advocacy & Activism, Community Service, Defining Inspiration, Health & Wellness, Intergenerational Impact, and Lifelong Learning. Nominations will be accepted from January 14 to March 12. The event highlights the significant contributions of older adults, whose life stories reflect resilience and wisdom, much like the lotus flower that blooms after years of growth underground.
