Community Crisis Responders (CCRs) in Seattle are actively assisting individuals in need, averaging about 250 calls per week. Recently, they helped a man whose mobile home was destroyed in a fire by connecting him with the King County Red Cross for temporary housing, clothing, and food. CCRs provided him with snacks, water, cold weather supplies, hygiene products, and shoes.
In another case, CCRs assisted a man in Rainier who needed a blanket but did not want to go to a shelter. They provided him with snacks, cold weather supplies, and a blanket, while also helping two others who requested blankets. In Pioneer Square, CCRs located a lost individual and offered shelter options, food supplies, and transportation to a shelter.
At the West Precinct, CCRs helped a person seeking shelter by arranging transportation to a facility. On Beacon Hill, they supported a man sleeping on the sidewalk with snacks and a referral to a nearby shelter, transporting him to a day center until it opened. In the University District, CCRs provided supplies and shoes to a disheveled man they encountered on the street.
