City Manager Amy Arrington reported on January 22, 2026, detailing the Normandy Park City Council’s goals for the year. During their Annual Retreat on January 9th, council members and staff reviewed ongoing projects and set new priorities for 2026, focusing on community needs. Key goals include developing a long-term plan for City Hall, securing funding for road safety improvements on 1st Avenue, enhancing community connections, improving public communication, updating the Emergency Management Plan, increasing legislative advocacy, expanding recreational facilities, supporting local businesses, and strengthening technology infrastructure. These objectives will be refined in a Study Session to create a detailed work plan, expected to be finalized in February.

Additionally, the City Council held its monthly meeting on January 13th, where Councilmembers Eric Zimmerman, Susan West, and Mike Bishoff were sworn in for four-year terms. Zimmerman was reappointed as Mayor, and Sue-Ann Hohimer was reappointed as Deputy Mayor. The report also mentioned that registration for the 2026-2027 school year at Normandy Park Preschool will soon open, continuing a tradition of providing quality early childhood education for over 20 years.
